Smart Pen optically records pen movements over a grid-enhanced paper CRF. Its
mini camera captures stylus activity 100 times per second. Pen storage capacity
can range to over 250 CRF pages. When docked, the pen (which is recharged while
in the dock) initiates a connection to the PC. After a start prompt and the
username and password are entered, data from the pen are automatically sent
over the Internet to a secure Health Decisions server. The Smart Pen is one of
several data entry options available from our integrated clinical trials
system.
